Sudden Shift to English Online Learning: Nursing Students’ Anxiety Levels

COVID-19 pandemic has forced educational institutions in Indonesia to convert face-to-face learning into online learning. This sudden change certainly brings many challenges, one of which is related students’ anxiety. research aims identify the anxiety level nursing students at Pelita Harapan University while English virtually. Quantitative method was applied, with a Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire as an instrument. Second year who had passed for Nurses course were population this study. To generate sample, researchers utilized convenience sampling technique, resulting 182 respondents. The results showed that 69.8% respondents felt moderately anxious during class. In addition, test most common category experienced by students. It made afraid failing get good grades, being overwhelmed understanding material, nervous when they must speak English, and panicking do not comprehend oral feedback given teacher synchronous study are expected provide insight educators develop strategies reduce students' levels.
